Alright, in the first movie, it is expressed that Brenda Bradford was the scientist that was responsible for Gadget's cyborg transformation. Then comes the sequel, which apparently has the mandate that everything relating to the first movie be forgotten, brings in that Baxter guys. Seriously, what's going on? I mean, if they changed it to Otto Von Slickstein, I could understand, because he was from the original series. Why bring in a wholesale new character, though? It just makes no sense.

I know what you mean When I saw the second movie for the first time I was confused. I mean in the first movie Gadget and Brenda made a relationship then the woman is gone and the Gadget's gadgets are on the care of Baxter? (not to mention Gadget received another girl friend ) And I'm not going to complain of instead of putting Baxter they should putted Von Slickstein because on the time that I saw the movies for the first time I hadn't watched the original series for ages, until now at 2004 of course, and I only remembered the main characters and not the other ones. But yeah, it was a bad move by the producers part.

It was poor story continuity if you ask me.

It was poor story continuity if you ask me. But at least it respected the series more than the first one. At least for me.

The problem for me was, yeah, it was closer to the original, but some jokes that are hilarious as cartoons are cringe worthy when live action. The live action Scooby Doo movies suffered from this, too. Combined with terrible CG, I just have a hard time watching a lot of the scenes.

Well, I'm not exactly a huge fan and appreciator of Scooby Doo and I never saw the live action movies, but I heard that they were also terrible. But that didn't only happen to Gadget and Scooby. It also happened with Alvin and the Chipmunks, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Garfield, Transformers, etc. I think that every time there's a live action movie based on a cartoon series it doesn't come out as we expected, by the argument respecting the original series, by including new characters for no mere reason and other stupid stuff that doesn't even make sense.

The first transformers is actually pretty good it the squeals that get slammed , I also got to be honest I am a big fan of the scooby doo films I kind of like Daphne learning martal arts which carried on to the scooby doo cartoons. I alsso a big fan of the flintstones movie. Also the new Teenage mutant turtles is not bad either the squeal looks a lot better with bebop and rocksteady. I really need to see the rocky and bullwinkle at the same point. I still think best live action/cartoon film is who framed roger rabbit/I will also admit I like Space Jam and Looney tunes back in action

Why couldn't they of brought that kind of magic to the 2nd one. I swear some writers these days have no clue what they are doing.

I'm conflicted with the sequel honestly. I prefer it because it's more faithful to the cartoon, but if there's one thing I do have a low tolerance for is cringy jokes(Unironically that is). But I like it because Penny had more of a role than in the first one, and there were some heart warming moments between the two which is such a rare thing in the movies and all of the tv shows. But at the same time I liked the first movie because it's the only time when we see Gadget in a semi serious light(Like the plot being around Gadget trying to arrest Claw for a murder). But if there is something I especially don't like in any sequel is when they remove the love interest from the first movie that the hero worked so hard to be with. Like Gadget spent the entire movie trying to win her heart and then she disappears no questions asked. The reason this annoys me is because it was pretty much half of the plot and now it's just wasted, like it was all for nothing. Plus the problems with sequels like this is that there is no guarantee that they could get the old actors back so they wouldn't be able to keep any relationship in tact. But we've seen this happen with movies like Paul Blart(weird comparison I know) and it never really sat right with me. I know I sound like a hypocrite for preferring G2 in general as a character but still XD

I found a fan fic on deviant art that serves as a better sequel.
