Don't know if you guys heard the news but Sony Animation is working on a new Ghostbusters cartoon to air in 2018. There also appears to be an animated movie in the works as well but no details are given yet. I'm hoping that it'll be 2D animated though I highly doubt it. The new series is called Ghostbusters: Ecto Force and takes place in the year 2050 with a new cast of characters. Ivan Reitman, the director of the 1984 movie is working on it so this could be promising. I wonder if any of these new animation projects are going to star the female team from the upcoming movie at all... Personally I'd be more interested in seeing something based off the 'The New Ghostbusters' comic series. I thought it was a interesting take on a (mostly) female team led by Janine and also had Kylie inspired by the character from Extreme Ghostbusters: And I know, the male character does look oddly familiar...

Indeed, he does! Do you think this has anything to do with that forgotten IG 2009 project?

No, that's Ron Alexander, a (mostly) reformed member of a rival group of ghost hunters who was only brought onto Janine's substitute busters because she, Kylie, and Melanie had no idea about how to fix the originals' gear. Man, I hope the cartoon has the original team. I'm not going to cry "RUINED FOREVER " just yet, but the new team isn't looking all that good.

Indeed, he does! Do you think this has anything to do with that forgotten IG 2009 project? I don't think so but it's such a funny coincidence, right? The character's appearance was supposedly based off of Chevy Chase in Caddyshack: But he looks so much like Gadget it's ridiculous. Man, I hope the cartoon has the original team. I'm not going to cry "RUINED FOREVER " just yet, but the new team isn't looking all that good. From what I can tell it's a brand-new team set in the future working with other teams around the globe, they don't sound like they're bringing back the original team. Although there's no word on what the animated movie will be about so we could hold out a little hope there but I'm not feeling optimistic. As long as the characters are interesting and well written I don't care too much... though I do miss the old team sometimes... I'm ashamed to admit that I kinda like Fem!Egon from the new team just on appearance alone. The rest of the characters don't do anything for me though.

Or maybe they thought Chevi Chase looks like Gadget and decided to draw him like that.

A crossover comic would be pretty cool.
