The other day I had a couple nice chats with people associated with the Gadget Hate group on DA. Now not everyone liking the show doesn't shock me. To each their own I say to that in regards to any fandom. But part of what spurred the hate towards IG with these guys had nothing to do with canon content. Aside from it's not their cup of tea, it's misrepresentation from fans causing the hate. These guys have an association with Gadget fans being not civil ( likely rude ), fetish-loving, phonographic peddlers. My polite conversation came as a shock to one of them. I know EmptyTome addressed the messed up fan works in one of her pieces, but what could clear up this misrepresentation better? That same person had seen what I do and approves of it, but given the AU nature of my works, representation doesn't fall to well towards it.

Actions speak louder than words. I'd say be as nice as possible, and do what you can to build a good reputation.

I actually saw their DA group for quite some time, and at first I was kind of shocked but not in an offensive way but more of an epic way, since I always was a person who wondered about what could happen if the villain would win for once, and some fan arts that are posted on that group are quite interesting. I only didn't became a member for them because, as you know, I'm not a Gadget hater.
I would say, as long there's no fight because of some disagreements of this and that, we should always respect each others opinions and works even when they don't please us.

I respect their opinions but I'm not interested in winning their approval.

I respect their opinions but I'm not interested in winning their approval. I'm with you there. I won't bug them about their opinion, but I don't really care what they think of me. I will be civil to everyone, but my likes are my buisness, not theirs.

Stone Cold Steve Austin had a motto is was 'DTA'-Don't Trust Anybody. I think that's how I would view this whole situation. Be civil but don't trust! It's a hate group, and their a hate group for a reason! Just watch your back Cat!

I'm not trying to win trust, only trying to remove the black eye others have created for the fandom that colors their viewpoint encompassing it's fans in general. For example to both sides of the street here. The admin. noticed someone trying to get fetish art into their group and she refused it. One of the non-hate normal groups allowed it auto acceptance to the featured folder. That kind of thing I think helps create the black eye.

I've never seen this group on DA, but I know for a fact that there is no reason for them to have a hate group on that site. I'm surprised that they haven't violated community guidelines, as I would imagine something like this shouldn't be tolerated.
Every fandom has its messed up side. You can literally look at any cartoon, and there will be people who have taken it in a perverted way. Those few people who do shouldn't represent an entire fandom. If they just don't like it because of the 2015 version, I understand, it's not nearly as good as the original, but that doesn't mean you have to establish a whole community on it.
Now, if you don't like it because of the dark side of the fandom, it's not really necessary, because like I said before, there are dark sides to almost every fandom out there, whether it be big or somewhat small, like this one. I've particularly noticed that in this fandom, there are the 11 and 12 year olds pairing up Talon and Penny, the "average" side to the fandom like us on this site and on DA, and then you have your creepy adults who make and say perverted things about Gadget and Penny.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what they think. We know who we are as a fandom, and we should just represent ourselves in the best way we can.

So their group hates fetish art but gladly accepts art that depicts extreme violence? I guess having a fetish is only alright as long as it's gore related. Sorry but I fail to see the moral high ground upon which they criticize the rest of the fandom from.
It's not our duty to assert to others that decent members exist in this fandom. If they cared they would seek to find us and talk to us. Let our actions speak for themselves.

Very true, but solo I am going to try and clear up the misreprestation as best I can on the front of not speaking to them rudely as another fan or fans have done so. I only have one guess as to who might have talked badly to them, helping them think the other side of the street has a mean following. And that person to my knowledge doesn't post here. I once posted praise on the profile of their friend for their art and the person reacted badly thinking I was downing the work when nothing of the sort was in my words.

I just hope for your sake, theirs are too! I just find it hard to believe, when one of them clearly stated that they 'love' getting into fights and being 'blocked' an vise versa! And then saying, they were 'proud' when they even got some to leave DA! Why the hell would you be proud of something like that? Arguments are bound to happen, but being pushed to the point, to where you feel the need to leave!...Then the person who apparently caused it, brags about it! I'm sorry, but that's seriously messed! The only one's that I know of, that would actually be 'proud' and 'happy' and or 'love it'! Are trolls! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying their trolls! But it almost sounds like they could be as well! That's all I meant when I said to watch your back! You have noble good intentions, I just really hope on their side it stays that way as well.

I've got to agree with Phasm and Cortoony here. Yes, there are members of the IG fandom who have disgusting habits, but setting up places for gorey hate art is not the proper response. Furthermore, if this person brags about getting blocked and chasing people away from DA, that doesn't speak of someone who is going to be reasonable.
I wish you luck, Cat. I could be wrong, but this seems to be someone who is looking for an excuse to be insulting.

I'm not fond of it's existence but also I'm not going to slam on it's members for having a different viewpoint. All I know is I'm confronting fire with water talking with them and so far they've been nice in return towards me. Bragging about getting blocked and chasing people off DA, to that I don't know who you're referring too.
