At first i wasn't really interested in this series only because i never really cared for GCI animation (even when i was a kid, i didn't care for it then) but my twin sister talked me into it and i was blown away! i actually got hooked watching it! and i love how it was first a basic formula on season 1 and then it became a run-on series on season 2 and i'm so hopeing they continue on with season 3!
the first season really reminded me of IG from it's basic formula and i had to look it up on IMDb website just to see who worked on it, and it came to my surprise that Miraculous Ladybug has some ties with the Inspector Gadget franchise. some of the crew did work on Gadget and the Gadtinies in the early 2000s and the animation studio "Tori Animation" (Ladybug's animators) worked on a few of the high quality animation in the Original 1983 series unaccredited.
now this makes me love the Miraculous Ladybug even more! since both of them are half anime with french origins.

Now that you said that makes me like the series even more. Yeah, I know I said the series didn't appeal me, mostly because when I saw it at first I felt I was watching a Sailor Moon rip off, and season 1 was a not technically the best when it comes to plot writing. However, when I saw the last episodes of it, and even that I'm still angry that the origins of the main characters are the last two parts episode and not the first, I started to get interested, I wanted to know where this was going. And when season 2 came out I started to enjoy the series even more, the writing started to get more development and the characters started to be way more interesting.

yeah, the premise of the series did reminded me a lot of sailor moon... both Ladybug and Chat Noir reminds me of Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. so i see what they did there, and also it was another well known anime series from Tori Animation.
of the i do agree with you with season 1, I've read that it was very rushed while in development and tried to make deadlines. i did enjoyed season 1, but season 2 was the huge ice breaker! besides the storytelling is more complex and after watching the last episode that came out, it seems like they are putting more background stories on the characters.

Didn't the show used to air on Nickelodeon ? i think it was on Nickelodeon at one time, i just had to look it up on nick.com and i don't see it on their list. it's been years since i had cable, so i'm not sure if it's still on there.

I started watching this the other day and even without remembering why the name came up when scrolling through posts, I knew quickly why Sailor Moon came into the conversation on this. Reading through the posts now more in depth, I know it's formulamatic but I want to avoid what spoilers might exist beyond what I've seen of season one so far. ... Was this based from a comic series or did it go straight to an animated series? I enjoy Sailor Moon so even with this having a rip off feel, I still enjoy it.
With all the awfulness going on in my life right now, this short of show is just a nice watch in my opinion. It's not serious but not down right stupid as was the last show I took a curious shot at watching.

Disappointing that nickelodeon no longer shows the episodes. I agree, I guess it's not as popular for cable, just netflix.
