It seems to me that Gadget 2015 holds absolutely no respect when it come to Inspector Gadget Classic. Unlike the movies (even IG2) and the Gadgetinis, IG2015 goes out of its way to reference IG1980, but not in a way that fondly remembers that series, but that mercilessly lampoons it!
Think about it. In the first episode, Gadget's original coat is overlooked, and the 1980's Gadgetmobile crumbles to dust on screen. Twice Penny's computer book is mentioned, and both times, it's lampooned as a baby toy (never the less that it was overriding high tech when it was in use.)
It frustrates me that this show, which holds as much dignity as a colander holds water is making fun of a classic that its claiming to be a sequel of!

Yeah, dismissing the original series how the current one does bothers me to a degree too. I think DHX is expecting their target audience to not respect the older cartoon. When Kisscartoon.me was up, I tended to read a lot of user comments to get an idea about what it was I was about to watch or see how others took had just been watched. A sad common voicing was and always this came from young viewers. They couldn't take something even at ten years old so forbid something at over 30. .. (Feels like old fart now.)

We sometimes get the idea that new=good and old=bad/cheap. It's a sadly common mindset.

It disgusts me as well. It seems like DHX media doesn't know how to use the rights of the original. This version has a lot of issues, like disrespecting the old objects as you mentioned (you even forgot that Penny's old clothes are now pijamas), making Gadget way more stupid, making Penny also careless (seriously, she got way more annoying, turning to something she wasn't before) and Claw a total joke. Not to mention (sorry for this one) the fact that they putted an OC, Talon, for the series. It screws everything. It's like what happened to the Powerpuff Girls reboot, it seems like this was done by older fans who were in love with Penny. And like Systemcat mentions it fools little kids. But well, at least when it comes to the missions it's actually decent, and there are jokes here and there that actually work, but the rest is just fucked up.

Honestly, I didn't have a problem with the PJs thing, and I think Talon was wasted potential (you can look at ReInitiated to see what I think he could have been.) As for the rest, I'd agree. 😔 I'd say 2015!Penny has the same intellect as RI!Gadget: slightly less stupid than past Gadgets, but still rather unobservant and makes stupid mistakes.

Some things here. First Talon the OC? I get the use of saying OC when fan fiction is being presented but Talon is being mentioned as his canon self here. ... I've never thought to think of a pure copyrighted character as being called OC. Penny's intellect .. In RI she comes across as more intelligent. With the 2015 series at least with what I seemed to notice in season 3, she seems to be nodding in more than just voice to Twilight Sparkle. "Test me!" <- Joke to this Penny.

When I mentioned that Talon was a OC it was more like he was putted in the series with no mere reason. I'm not saying that original characters are bad to be included, but I think when it comes to series that started well as it was I don't think it's necessary to include more. For example, when Capeman appeared many people got upset because it seemed he screw up with the charm of the relationship between Gadget and Penny, and with Talon it seems worst because they made the series focus on the love interest between him and Penny. In my modest opinion, and sorry if this might sound kind of mean (not my intention), I think an OC should only be included in an existed series as long it doesn't take the charm it had, otherwise it ruins it. As for Penny's voice I really don't think Tara Strong was the right choice.

If the producers has the rights of the olds shows the least they could do is to respect as it was. Not to mention it's not only younger audiences who watch the new series. It's adults as well, and although we like new stuff we also like them as they were before. If these guys made this serie with the same charm as the old one then the series would work fine, but since they don't it's just messed up.

Being fifteen means I don't really have many freinds who have any idea what the original IG is and the little kids actually think 2015IG is cool! ! I prefer the original and the new one is not very good in my opinion... They changed a lot of things, the GOOD things mostly... sad... sosad...

I have a sorta love hate relationship with the '2015' series. Nothing will ever be as good as the original series in my opinion. That may seem a little bias, but I grew up in the 80's, it was a huge part of my childhood!

With a heavy heart, this is the main reason why i didn't care for the 2015 series, i have tried to get into the rest of season 1, but i lost interest because i didn't like how much they dissed the original and called it a revival. (i honestly call it a remake) and also the original characters are out of character while they added a character that has nothing to do with the original series. i always though in the original series in season 2, Dr. Claw had no family but was raised by a bunch of old school gangsters, lol! so this is why i think Talon is just another OC in the IG universe. but anyways, but if you think about it, this franchise was bought out twice (Disney and DHX) so they wanted to keep the basic formula but put their own touches to it... so this was to be expected. but on the positive note, i've read so many comments from new viewers that was introduced to the original series from watching 2015 series by looking it up on youtube.
