you know, I totally forgot about those moments...
I guess it depended on his mood. Maybe he is one of those guys that are really not into his hands or arms being touched. He always wears the gloves even to bed. yeah, big possibility. I guess he just doesn't like to be suddenly touched when he's focused on a mission.
You know, There is another fan theory out there states that his hands are "robotic" and couldn't feel anything with his fingers due to his gadgets being place inside his hands... however, I don't really agree with this theory because in the episode "Mini Madness", he slams his finger against the car door and boy! he felt it! and also the same finger he hurt was bitten by one of the Linguinis. so he does have sensitivity in this fingers to feel pain... even though those leather gloves on.
I guess he wears his gloves all the time, including in bed and in the shower just to hide the nasty scars that Von cut through to placed the gadgets inside his hands and fingers... and he doesn't want to see them because it really depresses him. (but that's my theory )

I think his gloves 'are' his hands. As strange as that may seem. In the pilot episode, there's a part where Penny, Gadget and Brain are heading I believe towards a waterfall, cause they were stuck in the middle of a river. He uses his arm extensions and feet for that matter, to get Penny and Brain to safety. Once they were on land, Penny shouts "Uncle, pull yourself together!" Cause he was literally half drowning in the freezing cold water! He replies with, "I'm trying, I'm trying!" He was able to retract his legs and one of his arms, before disappearing under the water. Brain then goes up to his remaining arm and flips a panel back that was on his glove, and out pops a crank. Nothing else appeared to be there! So anyhow, Brain started turning the crank and in turn retracted his arm back. Then him and Penny pulled Gadget out of the water. I believe he was frozen sold within a huge cube of ice by this point!

True, I remember Brain did the same thing on "No Flies on Us".

I figured the gloves were to cover him pulling all the weird stuff out of them. (also a touch thing) Like the hat. More of a modesty thing. XD Gadget can be modest at times. <3 Like your theory too tho~!

Yeah I think so too. the gloves also protect everything too since he's one active man. however, I once read a small a small paragraph of a fanfic that he was given sensor pads so he can feel heat and texture though his gloves, but again, this is just canon ... but it also reminds me of the episode of "Fang the Wonder Dog" when he had to extend this hand inside a dark well and he felt water in the bottom of it. so it kinda gives you an idea that he dose have some sort of cybernetic system that he is able to feel though his gloved hands.

Shoot! What if his synth skin is superior to human skin like most of him kind of is when it works?

I would think so too. if you think about it, he might've have a lot of circuits and sensors that are attached to his nervous system too, that probably will make him more superior.
(as far as my understanding anyway. lol! )

(and also Mad almost made their way by opening up his chest with those robotic hands until Penny had a way to stop them.)
