Just a little short story that came to mind, after hearing a song. Hope you enjoy it!
Tombstone
by, EyesOfThePhasm
In the soft dewy grass, a small young girl was kneeling before a tombstone. Her head hanging down, light blonde hair, just mere centimeters from touching the ground. The sun was quickly setting and the dark evening sky, was fast approaching. In the distance, a light rumble of thunder could be heard. The little girl, payed no mind as the sky opened, and came raining down upon her. Saturating her golden pig-tails. Lifting her head slowly and eyes shut with tears. The little child began to sing.
'Do I miss you?
Count the stars
Multiply by ten
Of course I do
More than now and then
I could paint a rainbow, Shine the sky
Set the stars in space
Faster than explain, How much I miss your face
Watch the moon
Someday soon
He will start to smile
When I say “I’ll see you in a while.”, But 'til then I miss you
Dry my tears
Hide my fears away
Until that happy day
To the rainbow’s end
Is where I would go, my friend
I do miss you so’
With the last word sung, she once again bowed her head, before the tombstone. Her shoulders started to tremble, as she fault the urge to cry. Feeling weak at that moment, she allowed the tears to flow. Sobbing she tried to wipe the tears away. Beside her, someone knelt down. And placed a strong reassuring grip, upon her tiny little shoulder. Without looking the little girl, raised her left hand and grabbed the larger one. Wrapping her fingers around the person’s thumb, she felt the others finger’s open and stretch around her little hand. She leaned her head against their shoulder, as the person wrapped their arm around her, pulling her close. Lightly placing two fingers under her chin, the person gently lifted her head. The little girl’s glassy blue-green eyes, stared deeply into a man’s steel cool metallic gray. Their foreheads lightly touching. Cupping her face gently, he asked her if she were ok? And that they could go. She nodded slowly, as the man lightly kissed her forehead. Without another word spoken, he picked her up, as the child lay her head on his shoulder. Holding her tightly, he stood before the grave. After a moment of silence, he nodded respectfully as rain ran down off his fedora. Turning, he then walked away with the child.
End.
The song used in this story is called 'I Miss You'(Robyn's Song) from Tom and Jerry The Movie. It's such a beautiful song!
