Ahh, you have my attention towards both of your projects. While the first one you're unsure of if you'll finish it. Please tell me you'll be posting the second in this forum? PS: I think this thread was started by Copter. I don't know what happened. I think he deleted it ( the account ) because Butterfly doesn't know and Gizmo doesn't poke her head in here often.

I think there might have been a thread on it a long while back. still it doesn't hurt to start a new one.

Gizmo might be thinking of the thread entitled does Penny have autism?"
One easy way to explain some of Gadget's more unusual behavior is just to say but he has face blindness and what I would like to call "symbolic blindness". Basically, he's blind to certain symbols and objects, such as a symbol of M.A.D and anything that looks like it.
The fact that he remembers Quimby's face probably means that he has seen the Chief's official personnel file. I mean the guy has survived multiple explosions, tends to hide in some pretty weird places, and has been kidnapped once so that would kind of make sense.
As for him not recognizing Brain, his mind probably just automatically rejects the idea of his dog following around in disguise as ridiculous. After all, that's what he does with Penny's ideas all the time. So this would make perfect sense.
The real question is why Gadget keeps thinking Brain is an enemy agent! Maybe their first encounter left a very negative impression on the inspector, I mean his dog does have a tendency to sneak around and wear disguises so that might explain it.
I mean how would you feel if you discovered your dog sneaking around in the middle of the night and then going into your niece's room and putting on her clothes for no reason. I mean he has to be getting his disguises from somewhere and she's the only one who has a similar height and build to him. Brain probably means well but that definitely isn't the best first impression. Their dog should have been kicked out of the house but maybe Gadget fell asleep at thought it was just a dream that he remembered. Sorry if it's got a little dark or weird.

What your thoughts did do was give me a needed laugh and I mean in a good sense. I actually tried to picture Gadget discovering Brain trying on Penny's clothes because of the comment. Would it be ok if I drew this sometime? The image of it is too funny to want to pass up.

As a person with autism, I don't think that any of the characters, outside of maybe Penny, has that condition. I've always thought that the last thing that Gadget before the explosion or whatever happened (the idea of him slipping on a banana peel is just insultingly stupid and seems like a missed opportunity) saw was the MAD symbol. Maybe his brain simply cannot process this symbol so he never sees it. It would be tragically ironic if Brain was the one who unintentionally brought in the hidden bomb (Penny could have trusted her instincts and saved him but didn't do anything) that caused the Gadget to becoming his bionic-self. That would explain why he and Penny are so overprotective of their uncle, they might blame themselves for what happened to him. He might have been a genius Detective before his subsequent brain damage and only pretended to be stupid in order to make his enemies underestimate him. Presumably, his brain damage may have been discovered only after the emergency surgery that transformed him into a cyborg. Everyone involved was embarrassed for this oversight and it was covered up by Chief Quimby. At least that is my headcanon. Gizmo might be thinking of the thread entitled does Penny have autism?" Sorry that I'm a bit late for this conversation, but you do have a point about Gadget's unusual behavior when it comes to symbols and faces. there actually is a true clinical tearm called prosopagnosia where a lot of people with brain damage have trouble recognize faces. for what ever happened to Gadget, it must've been so severe where it might've effective where he cannot recognize only curtain symbols. (but again, I'm thinking fictional when it comes to the symbols) and also I do want to add since Brain's behavior is almost like human (he walks on his hind legs), I honestly would think that Gadget gets's very confused trying to figure out if it's a MAD agent or his own dog and would rush into his own conclusion without re thinking that this "person" has orange fur and fluffy ears.

It would be really cute if he tried this again and Penny thought it was adorable and wanted him to dress in all of the cute outfits she didn't have any interest wearing because she was very practical about her clothing.

Here's a thought that came to me: what if Gadget's not just stupid, but he might have one or more undiagnosed learning disorders that are holding him back? That could explain a lot of his actions. I HC him with ADHD and actaully go into that in the Noir AU a little. Like he's a functioning adult with it and a bit of a troll. The man has a bunch of degrees and big on education so he isn't stupid at all. He does seem to have trouble focusing on things. He could also be playing that up to throw people off.

Lol! I wonder if that's how Brain became the master of disgise. Penny must've trained him to dress quickly and correctly while fooling Gadget thinking that they are playing "dress-up". knowing Gadget, he must've spoiled Penny with a big wardrobe (maybe mostly pink since Gadget loves pink and Penny isn't crazy about the color) and since Penny is sort of a tom-boy, she must've had a lot of unwanted cloths for Brain to try on. I agree with hou, just think about all those times he threw back the explosive notes to the chief, avoiding not to get burned in the face with those pesky notes... You can tell that he does think quicky and is very resourceful when he finally realizes he's in trouble. But It takes him long enough to think quickly. Lol!
