I'm wondering here what sort of odd research all us who write have had to do. Copter bringing up the Grasshopper Mouse last night reminded me of this. What I had to pull up this morning is another example, I had to proof my writing to ensure I wasn't making a grammar mistake. www.eslcafe.com/grammar/using_personal_titles04.htmlWhat sort of "odd research" have you guys if any, done for your own works?

Well, for randomness, I also have done studies into shrews and that platypus, as well as some studies I can't mention right now. It's funny how much homework you can end up doing for fanfic.

The more you give snippets of info over your series the more I'm intrigued to read it! Here's one to figure out. This morning I was looking at images of hermit crabs after the other day when I wrote one little comment from a character. After writing the statement I quickly realized the little things could serve a higher story reasoning purpose if I was right about their imagery.

Those ate tough little guys. I'm glad you are interested. There's a lot I want to talk about, but I'll have to wait as each chapter comes out. At least the 5 is almost here!

I have never eaten hermit crabs. Though I have eaten snow crab. They are delicious.

This is oddball research at it's finest I think. In preparing for the next section which isn't going to be drawn for a while. I earlier today started on concept work for a character not shown before. Remembering his last name is purely made up I still thought something of cultural background should be shown in the house where that character and a couple others of the same family live. ..Made up but still sounding like the name could exist. I guessed at which culture might produce a last name like it. Greek: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_family_name_affixesI was right on culture name guessing!

Humorously enough, a dropped pilot to a cartoon is influencing how I'm doing a particular character. I don't want to mention who she is yet, but I wanted to come up with a unique twist for her, and the idea struck me as I was developing her that there were similarities to a show called the Modifyers. Or, more accurately, a pilot that could have been a show called the Modifyers. tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WesternAnimation/TheModifyersThis show looked great, but was turned down because Nickelodeon didn't want a show with a female lead. Shame, because it looked pretty good. This review is how I discovered it: PS: some person made a pornographic spoof of this show, which further ruined the odds of this show being made a reality. I've never watched it, but I mention this to warn those who might go looking for the SFW short. Shows how creepy fan projects can ruin a product.

Ah, connecting together what we were talking about last night! This is yet another dive into it didn't have to be done exact, but I went for that anyway. Picking a passenger train that had to have been in operation during a certain time and pass through certain states. I read wiki pages talking about different trains through out the years to narrow this down. The California Zephyr fit the bill better than any other brushed up on: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Zephyr

This is something on writing for research I think. Twice now due to the state of news & politics I've gotten nervous about what I have to research because of potential "flags". I refused to look up images of Air Force One a while ago and a couple nights ago on a hunch I discovered a service job test was real. The ATF.
