I just watched the episode NSF Gadget, and I noticed something odd. Throughout the episode, Gadget and several other characters were put under the influence of a substance called Crazy Gas, which was supposed to have an effect somewhat similar to the Scarecrow Gas of Batman. It certainly had that effect when it was used on other characters. However, whenever Gadget went under, he instead saw beautiful women who he promptly fell in love with.
Do you think his gadgetry causes him to metabolize chemicals differently from other people?

I'd never thought of that before. But that idea of his gadgetry causing him to metabolize chemicals differently certainly sounds like it could be the culprit.

The song 'Love Potion #9', just started playing in my head right now after reading this! No but seriously, if memory serves didn't Scarecrow's gas bring out people's innermost fears? Right? Well what if Gadget's innermost fear is beautiful women? Crazy I know right?! What the hell is she thinking!!! Just hear me out for a sec, I don't mean that he has a fear of women, obviously no! Duh! I mean as a weakness! A weakness he knows he has...so to speak. After all, they have proven to be a distraction for him on more then one occasion. So in an essence, that 'could' be a form of fear to him. Cause he does tend to lose his senses. Just a thought! As for his 'gadgets' playing a factor in this!....Hell,...well maybe!

If that's the case, it doesn't seem to dawn on him that much.
*cough* Lana Lamor *cough*

Lets not forget about the mushrooms. Someone on Youtube thought that when he saw the mushrooms instead of something more horrifying might meant that those could be something he didn't like, like what if he was allergic of that food? I guess he can't make a visit to Wonderland or the Mushroom Kingdom because of that. But really, what if the mushrooms are something he can't stand? As for the women situation, what if he is desperate on finding one so Penny can have a second mother? I mean, he's always so busy with his missions that he doesn't have enough time for his niece. What if it could be that too?

*cough* Lana Lamor *cough* Yeah....let's not mention innocent Miss. Lana! Gadget- "I have 'no' idea what you guys are taking about? Miss. Lamor was a good woman!" Penny- "I think they rest their case." Gadget- "..."

It was very noticeable, especially since the MAD agent saw giant bugs, which are a lot more horrifying. Unless the mushrooms were 'shrooms, and that was more a fear of drugs and similar issues becoming a threat to Penny. ...or maybe he doesn't mind mushroom (he was surprised, but not too freaked out, and was more concerned with not hitting them.) Or maybe I'm overthinking things.

What if it could be that too? You do have a point Polar. Just to think about it, Some people out there do have a fear of being alone. (it's called Autophobia) Maybe Gadget is extremely desperate to find a wife because she would help him raise Penny since she is reaching her teenage years which Gadget is afraid of. (she's growing so fast in Gadget's eyes) And also he doesn't want to be end up being all alone after she becomes an adult and lives her own life. So the 'crazy gas' must've triggered his feelings, but on the fact he has other chemicals throughout his body, he must've have the opposite reaction to feel instead of "fear" but "pleasure", so that might've been the reason why he saw pretty imaginary girls in random objects and try to seduce them. lol! As for the mushrooms, I do agree... he might be allergic to them.

So many interesting questions.

That's a good point! His less fearful reaction could also be because his brain reacts differently to fear sometimes? Or a combination of both, probably, if that's the case. I'm thinking because he often tends to misinterpret when people are trying to hurt him as harmless things. That, and the vision he saw of the beautiful woman was a giant multi-limbed goddess-figure. (Which, like you said, is not necessarily a scary monster thing) Someone could react to that in various ways, though, and Gadget immediately reacted with love/romance as opposed to fear/awe/confusion. Maybe even his entire body chemistry is all different. Heck, that's a whole new angle to look at him from ...
