Maybe it would explain some of her anti social behavior besides not knowing who to trust.

As a teacher, aspergers for me is just a made-up scarecrow built up by parents to deny responsibility towards the behaviour of their children.
While aspegers is an actual thing that people have, 80% of the cases it gets diagnosed to absolutely normal kids. It's called BEING SHY.
So I doubt Penny could have an actual mental disorder. I love to diagnose psychosis to Gadget because he has the physical reasons for it (brain parts missing). But I think Penny is only introverted by nature and by the events of the upbringing. As it happens with most people.

Actually it's not exactly that, Lunsei ^^;
I am actually an Asperger Sindrome person and the autism itself it's more about people who are born with that problem and has difficulties with the relationship with other people. This was something that I actually learn while being on my therapies with my psychologist. And for what I understand also, a person who's born with that has also a more slow development and evolution on learning things.
About Penny's character herself I don't think she suffers of that. She's just a normal girl who just has a difference personality, and she doesn't have problems with relationship with other characters, other wise she wouldn't be friend with Atsuko, Anya/Sonia, the chinese grandson from "Eye of the Dragon" and Tabu.
It's kinda funny 'cause when I watched this series again I actually asked my psychologist if the characters could have Asperger Sindrome or any other kind of autism, but the answer she just gave me was no, they were just normal characters with there own characteristics.

Those are very good points as well. Also different experiences can change a person no doubt. I am surprised that the characters don't seem to have post traumatic disorder from all of the stuff they went though.

PolarStar, I'm sorry if I sounded rude as I don't mean to offend people who actually have a condition. It's just that, from personal experience, you see so MANY students diagnosed with all kinds of mental things, that it either means everyone's crazy or no one is. And I think you can tell when a person has a real mental condition or when they just happen to have a certain type of personality. Yet I also faced psychologists diagnosing random crap to my students. For example, one of my students was diagnosed as having dyscalculia. But he could do any kind of calculus without any problem and very fast! Yet, after he was diagnosed with dyscalculia, he REFUSED to do maths. His mother agreed with him and actually argued with me because I was letting him do additions and such. ...Well, this was pretty offtopic however so let's return to the discussion. Since we're discussing the characters' psychological state - do you guys agree that Gadget is psychotic?

Well I wouldn't say he is dangerous. He means well.
Although I think Brain might have post traumatic stress disorder from all of the danger he has gotten into saving gadget.
No wonder he dreads the missions at times. XD
Quimby might also suffer from this due to how many times he has been blown up with the self destruct letters. XD poor dude XD

Since we're discussing the characters' psychological state - do you guys agree that Gadget is psychotic? It's okay. Even I don't like to talk about it because since I'm an autist and even I'm envolving day after day I still don't feel like I'm not 100% a normal person like the other, and that makes me a little sad. Still, I actually think I prefer being an autist myself then being normal because, even there's normal people who are kind and always helping each other, the majority are just selfish ones who doesn't care about anything. I understand what you mean. When I knew that I was an Asperger Sindrome person I also thought that that could help me run away from my fears, by telling that I had that so they could stop bullying me (yes, I was victim of bulling), but even so it didn't had a lot of effect. However, when I was evolving I realized myself that it the way I was acting didn't work that way. I know a lot of people who suffers from those kinds of disorders doesn't have the properly help as they should had but that doesn't mean that the majority is stupid. People who are born like that are actually more smarter than a normal person, especially from one category. I for example was art! Before I started to become a more lazy person and getting a lot of art blocks I was actually a drawing machine, always doing stuff on the papers. People, especially normal ones, were actually impressed on that. I understand that you might not like those kind of people, but the only thing that I beg you is just for not being a "bitch" to them, including me. Instead of being pissed why not trying to have patience and help them. Now back to the topic. No, I don't think he's a psychotic person. I just think he's just a normal person who just makes mistakes.

Being psychotic doesn't mean being dangerous or not meaning well or not trying your best. I quote Wikipedia: "Psychosis refers to an abnormal condition of the mind described as involving a "loss of contact with reality". People with psychosis are described as psychotic. People experiencing psychosis may exhibit some personality changes and thought disorder. Depending on its severity, this may be accompanied by unusual or bizarre behavior, as well as difficulty with social interaction and impairment in carrying out daily life activities". Basically: not recognizing your own niece when she's tied up and about to be burnt by a robot dragon; mistaking your own dog for an enemy agent; trying to roast a grapefruit; thinking your own garden is a weed infestation; seeing a guy in in diving suit and thinking he's an alien; etc. etc. etc. Plus, I repeat again, psychosis is usually caused by physical brain damage. It all adds up! I won't push my interpretation on others, but personally I prefer to imagine the cyborg inspector suffers from such a disease, rather to imagine he is such an amazingly complete imbecile.

Oh, I actually didn't knew that when it comes to kind of disease Well, I know people who were normal and have a some kind of dangerous accidents their brains gets injured that they get those disorders, mostly cerebral palsy or worst. But if psychosis is that you referred then I guess Gadget got that after his accident.

Parts of Gadget's brain that stored certain memories, like what the M.A.D Logo looks like, were blown up by a bomb. Had bad brain genes to begin with anyway.
