Currently I'm watching my favorite Christmas movie ... and it's one which scores low with critics on stars. I didn't know that fact for the longest time. The other day I wondered if anyone had ever given it fan art on DA. One person gave it a nasty meme.
Anyone else like movies everyone else hates?

Curiosity caught, what movies? Once I purchased a movie from Blockbuster very cheaply ( this is well before they disappeared ) that turned out to be good but I'd never heard of it before. The thing was a B-sci fi comedy through & through on purpose. Rotten Tomatoes I learned slammed it into the ground. ... I don't think their critics have a sense of humor. Not the B-sci fi. The Christmas one is Mixed Nuts.

as for my favs...
"Junior" (1994) with Arnold Schwarzenegger. I actually saw this when it first came out on VHS and it became one of my most faves! I'm surprised that they gave it a 36% on rotten tomatoes, i guess the critics didn't have the sense of humor about pregnancy, lol!
"The World's Greatest Lover" (1977) with Gene Wilder. he's one of my most favorite actors and this movie is so bad, but entertaining at the same time... i just had to get the DVD when i saw it on amazon.
"Heart and Souls" (1993) I saw this on tv in the mid 90's, it's mostly in between in the ratings...
"The Cable Guy" (1996) another "in between" ratings with credits. I know not many people like this movie... some of my friends didn't like it ether when it first came out, but this movie became one of my favs after renting it one night. I would say it was one of the rare movies that Matthew Broderick was actually very good in. (in my opinion)
and i do want to add "Edward Scissorhands" it actually is 90% in rotten tomatoes. however, I had it on VHS growing up and loved it... and my friends didn't like it... they thought it was too "weird" lol!
that's all i can think about on the top of my head.

that's all i can think about on the top of my head. I remember watching Junior years back and even though it's a faded memory, I don't remember disliking it. With that and you saying you enjoy it as well, it surprises me Rotten Tomatoes didn't like it. I've never heard of The World's Greatest Lover before so that's one I'm going to have to check out. ... Wonder if I could find it for free on Roku? Heart and Souls I like and it has an odd place in my movie collection. I have a thing for collecting older movie formats. It's one of the few LaserDiscs I own. Know of The Cable Guy, I just haven't seen it yet. Still remember it's ad.s and ... my brother imitating an act done by Jim Carrey in it. Except the dark toned .. er however you want to define that. Except for that I liked Edward Scissorhands too.

if you are a fan of Jim Carrey, this is the movie you need to see. it's one of those movies that was ahead of it's time. surprisingly the nostalgia critic gave it a good rating.
