Well done but it made me eventually laugh out loud thinking of the comparison!
I don't know what you've read. I have the impression you've read bits of it? Total? In any case I don't write it ultra serous, but definitely more adult & complex than what it's based on.
I remember when midway through writing The Rogue and the Jackal, I watched the 2014 Robocop for the first time. It having a much darker take on cyborgs, I tried my best to push it out of my mind when doing my writing. Which I did. iRogue from the start was meant to be a dark character, not the rest. ( Two drafts of the second story had already been written before watching that film. )
In the first story I wanted to make a point that Gadget needed extra help on the job. The one in this trailer seemed to be working solo.
All of these stories have things in them I wouldn't dare write for an ultra serous story.
For example -
Story 1:
"If it wasn't for the waver you people had me sign when I agree to you being my health provider, I'd sue you!" He shouted back, wobbling in the legs as he did so. Now with both arms attempting to balance him by waving outwards from him.
Within seconds he couldn't control the wobbling any more and he crashed again.
This time into the roof of the house with a belly flop.
Dazed, his robotic extended legs retracted into him, and gave his body a more normal appearance as he lay on the roof.
Hearing the ending wopp of a police car's siren helped him clear the sudden fuzz which came with shortness of breath he had gotten from the impact.
Knowing the sound had to have come from near by, he carefully climbed up the roof to see what it's highest edge would reveal of his front yard, and beyond.
Much to his surprise the patrol car was parked in the street in front of his house.
It's former occupant, a former co-worker.
"Hello Sergeant Quimby!" John shouted from the rooftop to the man below.
Quimby after looking around in every normal direction, finally turned his gaze near skyward with John's shouted coaxing of "Warmer, warmer!" After many shouts of yelling "Cold, colder."
"What on Earth?! Inspector Heyward what are you doing?" Quimby stammered at the sight of the man on the roof.
Dropping his gaze back towards the earth, he continued, "Forget it, it's you. I'm sure you have a perfectly logical explanation why you're on the roof."
"A mistake in stretching my legs!" John shouted in response.
Charles rolled his eyes skyward once more, but not in John's direction.

Story 2:
"Inspector Gadget, a little help here?" Louis shyly asked John, turning his attention to him.
Yet again surprise filled the room, and the inspector nearly felt like asking Louis how he even knew of his invented code name. It didn't happen because to him at this moment nothing else felt necessary other than, again trying to save a life. John started to move towards the police dog, and man it was confronting.
Before he'd reached the altered animal, it acted, but not how Terry expected it to on Doctor claw's behalf. Right before the dog took a savage large bite into one of Terry's wrists. The act of the bite damage did do harm to him, but not death. As the dog was about to bite him, Doctor Claw explained his actions before taken.
"Punishment and release! You will continue with your mission, or you will in fact die by my personal claws!" The man said through the German Shepherd. Moments before ripping off the Elite MAD agent's left hand, and at the same time freeing him of the hold the handcuffs he was bound with, held him in.
While the rest of the people occupying the station watching, looked at the sight of Terry holding up his left arm. The injured limb with just a stub now where once it had a hand. The onlookers mortified and repulsed by what they just seen happen. Terry saw it differently. A loss yes, but not with what he'd think to expect at it happening.
"That didn't hurt as much as I'd thought." He voiced, then in remembering Louis's state of freedom at the moment. Terry continued in speaking with what to him felt like a good question to help the other out. "Louis would you like Doctor Claw to help?"
"No no no! Real hands here! I can live with jail for now!" Louis said frantically, while at the same time trying to some how tuck his hands into himself against his gut.

Story 3:
"Brain, speak so we know the link is truly working." The inspector ordered the holographic android. To then the animal on the other end, listening to the man's words.
The android stared at John for a few moments before replying. In while doing so shaking the hands of the holographic device like crazy. "You look strange."
"Epic," Terry commented to the dog's response. Laughing lightly at the break through in communication to animal kind, as he saw it.
"I told you we look funky despite our sight gear helping us visually adjust to this shift the place is under going! Skinie your hair color looks like mine. John yours looks black, and god your nose!" Alan told to his teammates, laughing about his observations towards the two men.
Terry noting Alan too looked different through the augmented look of reality they all saw. Feeling the engineer likely had not truly taken note of his perceived altered appearance. Had to tell him, his thoughts over the misshapen oddity, Alan now looked to be.
"I wouldn't laugh at this if I were you, tech."
Looking down at himself at hearing what sounded like a prompt from the Elite MAD agent. Alan then observed how he looked, and shuttered as he saw what the shifting gasses & beams of light were doing to his appearance. As the engineer groaned at the sight of his hands, and then feeling what looked to be his gut sticking out. Terry now wore the smile that would normally be on the other man's face, watching him.
