Alright, can someone explain the similarities and differences between G9 and Brain?

Well they are both very smart dogs who help there friends.
However G-9 is robotic and can transform into just about any mode of transportation.

The only similarities being both dogs who accompany the lead some what in the stories. G9 has been noted as a robot and cyborg. I chalk that up to poor writing. The K9 is a shapeshifter that in my opinion could have no real dog in it. As far is relationships go. It was clear that Brain was Penny's best pal. G9 just appears to go with the flow of whatever the dog is presented with for who orders him - it.

Although I am not sure how far people are from making shape shifting modes of transportation.
