I completely disagree with them regarding animation, in my opinion, the animation was done very well compared to some of the cheaply done ones (ex: Super Mario Bros. Super Show), it did have its errors, but no one's perfect. The first movie wasn't a box office failure like Jem and the Holograms, just failed by the critics. I actually kind of like the second movie better, just because I felt that it was more faithful to the original tv show, and Stewart was a lot better at capturing Gadget's personality.

Personally, I didn't watch the whole video (boring), but I do have to comment on what they said about the original series.
First of all, gioj, I totally agree with you on animation. IG was one of the most beautifully animated shows of its time, in my opinion, and it even holds up well now.
As for their opinion, they are free to have it. I won't criticize them for holding it, but I think they fall into a (rather large) categories who miss a huge point in the show. That would be the "Inspector Gadget without Gadget" fanbase, which I named after the YouTube series by the same name. This is the section who have an overfocus on Penny's role in the show. I'm not going to argue that she isn't important; quite the opposite. She is vitally important, and as much as I liked IG1, I do believe it suffered for downplaying her. In fact, her role is the only part of IG2 that I actually enjoyed!
However, the Gadget without Gadget base misses that without Gadget, Penny's motivation goes out the window. Without her uncle there, I don't think Penny would be doing any of this. She'd be off living a normal ten year olds life. I mean, unlike Nancy Drew, Penny isn't mystery solving because she enjoys it, she's doing this to make sure her last relative continues breathing. Furthermore, without Gadget there, there is no area for Penny's humility development.
Frankly, I believe that the dynamic between niece and uncle is what is important to the show, and cutting out either is a loss. That's my opinion.
What do you think?

It's funny because he just did a review of the "Madagascar" series, and gushed about how much he loved it, but he was just unsympathetically harsh with Inspector Gadget.
