I was watching Get Smart, and an idea struck me. Smart may be incompetent at almost everything, but he's acutally pretty good in physical situations. Whenever he gets in a fight, Max actually can hold his own and treachery is needed to capture him. Furthermore, once captured, it only took him about a minute and a half to escape.
I thought that might be a good way to portray Gadget as well. There's even some basis for this in the Classic series, since in "The Ruby," he actually holds his own pretty well against a pack of tigers.
Of course, later series ditched this concept completely, making the inspector incompetent at everything, but I think that would be a good way to play him. 2015 especially missed out on an opportunity, since it would allow for a situation with Penny as the brains and Gadget as the brawn as well as comic relief, instead of Penny as both and Gadget as the (debatably annoying) pure comic relief.
Just a thought. What do you guys think?

In Gadgetinis this re-surfaced, he was pretty competent putting at least his gadgets to use. I used that with some basis for writing the Basic Cyborg Physiology piece.

In Gadgetinis in the first episode it was a bit of a "what could have been moment" when Gadget was made smarter and was able to use all of his best Gadgets to stop the MAD agents perfectly. Of course it would be silly for me to expect that Gadget would ever use his gadget's that well without the aid of an intelligence booster, the idea of Gadget being able to be competently fight foes in the same manner Maxwell Smart does really does sound like a missed opportunity on the new Inspector Gadget show. If a new show were to come out it would be a cool idea for the Maxwell Smartesc fighting to come out of Gadget for once
