I'm now bringing up something I learned of faintly months & months back because of soon returning to a plot line. The crimes with the cyborg MAD agent cat, Finch & Bruce orchestrating this happening, and Alan & Brain dealing with them. What I'm bringing up here doesn't have to do with that plot but it's something I find interesting.
I have no idea if this was DiC's intent with the classic series on creating a villain character. Birds of a Feather was very themed. A guy whose name screams avian idea / controlling a pack of various birds to commit thefts - in Turkey. Now I brought in Finch since my version of MAD is dominated by specialized agents who tend to have animal partners. A guy who can control birds? Seems fitting.
Given the depth most cartoons have, I have doubts DiC thought of this while formulating the episode he comes from. Birds are special in Turkey! I learned of this of all places listening to an educational program on the only thought provoking radio station Houston has. On a morning drive to get some tasks done, going up FM-1960 I heard the educator talk about how they have a place in the country's culture.
When I decided to bring in Finch unlike the canon version, I tried to make sure his ethnicity looked right. To further blend better to actual fact, I plan to use this knowledge of the little feathered guys cultural place where he grew up.
I have been lightly having an idea brew in my head for a while about giving Finch a more detailed origin then when we first gain knowledge of him through a cursory note of Alan noting something amiss at night and the guy having a collision with Penny.
The story, which I think will be a short comic, likely will be done after Iron and steel while Devil's Blood is being worked on.
Just to show the educator on the radio wasn't making things up, here's a page talking to a degree about what she was:
