When the Naruto emotes were made, I knew what show they came from even if I wasn't very familiar with it. I remember back in Denver in the 00's watching at least the pilot on cable, as for which channel, I forget. I remember feeling so so about it just from that. But because of the emotes here and curious after reading what Polar has done so far for her many cartoon characters crossover fic., I thought I'd give the series a better chance. I started watching it on Netflix and think I'm somewhere nicely into the first season by now. It's a slow to get into at least to me, but I like it. Odd, the last time an anime was put to my attention, I tried to get into it but couldn't. A guy I know, talked me into watching Fairy Tail. Fight! Fight! Fight! That's what the series from what I saw of it felt like, that and not much of a plot. What is odd is Naruto has a lot of fighting in it as well but feels to have more plot-wise. What are your thoughts on the series and please no spoilers beyond I'm guessing is mid-way through season 1?

I'm glad my emotes and fanfiction (have to get the chance to keep writing it) gave you the please to give a watch on the anime. When I first saw Naruto it was when I was at my brother-in-law's house, although I saw some images of the anime on a french magazine I used to buy called AnimeLand (it was also from that magazine that I found out there were the Gadget DVD boxes). But anyways an episode was passing on a channel that time and somehow it called my attention so from that time I tried to give it a chance to watch from the beginning. Although I'm a more Maho Sojo appreciator (Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Kaitou Saint Tail, etc.), with Naruto somehow I got into it for some reason. Sure it's a fighting/action anime, according to the manga the writer was inspired with Dragon Ball, but unlike any other anime from that category this one didn't felt that boring because like you mention it has a plot, the characters have at least a reason why they fight. Not to mention that the backside story of each character, especially Naruto, are very relatable, you feel the emotion of them. Unfortunately the continuation of the series, Naruto Shipuden, started to loose a little of it. It still maintains the plot and there are some episodes here and there that are still really good, but I can't help but to feel it started to get a lot of filler. That's why I prefer the Classic one although I'm not into it that much as I used to. I still like the main character Naruto, he is such a relatable character to me.

Oh, for the love of pete. I know there is more to the series then what Netflix has the rights to ( end of episode mentioning next to come ). ... I think, I'm guessing the whole or part of season 5 is their cut off for this show. Nuts to cliffhangers.
Does Sasuke remain an *** or does he eventually break away fully from Orochimaru's influence?

In the Classic series yes, he still keeps on being an *******. Only in Shipuden, although I'm not very sure since I haven't watched it that much, he's only like that in some episodes until he gets better in the end.
