Here is a question that I've been wondering for quite sometime, it's hard to believe that the IG franchise has been around for over 35 years and still has good amount of fanbase on the internet since the spinoffs came around when the internet was getting very popular in the early 2000s and the recent 2015 reboot. (Not the mention the movie since it promoted GoTo.com, but the internet was still in its early stage around that time) My question is how long have you been in the IG fandom? (Before and after online) I've been in the IG fandom off and on for 17 years online and 20 years before I got online. (Same thing with my twin sister, @tenchigirl15 ) When the movie came out in 1999, I was digging though newspapers and TV Guides and see if they if they had more information about both the movie and the oringnal series along with the series titles. (Some TV listings had them and some didn't) however, but it wasn't until I finally was able to go online in 2002 and discovered that there was a big fandom for IG along with lots of information and communication with other fans. IG was the longest fandom I've came apart of and I will continue to do so since it's not as big as other fandoms out there and it's very laid back. So, How about you guys?

To be quite honest, when it comes being part of the fandom before online I wasn't really into it 26 years back. Sure every time I woke up early it was mostly to watch the series along side with Sailor Moon which also passed in the same channel, and I adored every minute of each episode, damn it even passed two more episodes after the news. But of course when it came sharing my interest with other people unfortunately I didn't get that luck, mostly because people around my age weren't exactly fond to the serie, not to mention that they were that type of people who would say "watching cartoons is children's stuff", and also when it comes to animation the huge success here in my country was "unfortunately" Dragon Ball. As for the drawing part, although I love the series back then I didn't use to draw Gadget much until later when the Gadgetinis series came to Portugal, I usually drew him as a sort of easter egg on my original drawings every time my brain remembered his face, but there was a time when I used to draw a sort of my own original series where I was a dog with a trench coat and had gadgets as well (yeah, you can say I had weird ideas back in the old days ). But yeah, Gadget didn't have the same luck Sailor Moon, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon, Powerpuff Girls and Digimon had when it came with drawing. As for after online I only started getting into the fandom when I subscribed myself to DeviantArt back at 2008. I started to post some of my IG fanart though people who mostly saw them were those Penny "fetish" fans since she was the only character I was drawing mostly at the time. Only later I started to draw more fanart of the series and that's where I met the real fans who liked the series the same way I did, especially Systemcat, Gizmo and EyesofthePhasm. It felt nice!

Just to tell you the truth, other than my twin sister that has the same interest, our friends weren't found of the series ether. When I was at the age of 13, I really got into IG series and most of my friends at my age group were more into MTV, South Park and the Simpsons. Meanwhile I was a mix between adult and "children" cartoons, so we kinda had conversations on our interests... however, some of our friends did say negative things about IG, but it didn't change my mind on loving it because I loved anything that hardly any of my friends did. lol!
you know, I've been in DeviantArt since 2004, I actually have 2 accounts (only one I mainly use) and I've met a lot of people who was in the fandom, so sad that a lot disappeared over the years.

I can totally believe that. The idea that I have when it comes to most of the people is that when it comes to entertainment they usually like series with some action and fighting which is a little kind of sad. Luckily I still catch with some who also like old cartoons, mostly some animes like Sailor Moon and CardCaptor Sakura which for me is kind of a relief for me. But when it comes to Gadget fortunately I still caught with some talking about the series, like some remembering the characters, that Gadget's trench coat had a lot of funny gizmos, damn I even caught with one who remembers that he used to wake up at 6AM, boy was I loving hearing those chitchats even if I didn't participate on them. However, the majority just remember the goddamn theme song every time someone says the name or just see a picture of him (which is mostly what happens in every convention I go), it becomes kind of annoying and frustrating, this is the reason why I can't stand with the Gadget theme song and most of the time when people do that I can't really help but to ask him for not doing that. Oh! I didn't know about that. Oh, by the way, I accidentally wrote 2018 instead of 2008 when it comes being on DA for over the years. My bad.

I've been a fan since year dot. Instant ove for the show. I guess the animation and plot was just something that really appealed.

Same, guessing back to either in first or second grade when I was introduced.
Welcome, it's a small community at least those of us who post here, but we're a friendly one. Postings tend to happen in spurts so don't worry if things seem inactive for a while.

I've been watching it at least since I was 3 in 1990; I know because I have a clear memory of watching it my uncle's apartment when my mum, grandmother and I went to America/New York to visit him that year. Incidentally (not IG related but animation) on that same holiday we went to Warner Bros Six Flags, and saw a show where they were celebrating Bugs Bunny's 50th Birthday; my grandmother got up on stage and danced with Sylvester

Just to think about it, IG was on in quite a few of TV stations in 1990, you got lucky that you caught an episode.
