Oh, there's trouble on the wind. An (ex?) MAD agent working at the cat rescue. Let's hope Penny's not in over her head here!

Nah, he's a current MAD agent and by far not working alone.
The idea that accompanies the cat rescue has been part of plot of this story from day one of development. I'm not totally sure when this initial idea struck me for creating a long in length comic based story on the AU happened. Likely this basic thought came up around June or July.

That makes the story interesting, though it doesn't improve Penny's situation.

(Page 40) Oh, man. If looks could kill. Well, that wasn't the least bit suspicious. I could be wrong, but my guess is that Penny's not just going to go back home, is she?

The next section isn't Penny focused, but her leaving the rescue much earlier than expected does create just a little slice of life problem for her. That won't be revealed for a while, it's a little dry, but most the whole scene that just happened does help kick off some story plot. ( Do I dare spoil something that won't be revealed for a while about the section? ) Next up: Chief Quimby finally enters the story.

We'll get to see the chief's AU design.

Ohh, John, don't be giving Quimby ideas.
Also, how did you come up with the idea to make the Gadgetinis human? I mean, there are some changes with my Gadgetinis, but the final form didn't come to me for months.
Also, I noticed Finn and Dirk are Asian. May I ask what cultural background they are from? (i.e. Chinese, Japanese, Koran, etc.)

I mean, there are some changes with my Gadgetinis, but the final form didn't come to me for months. Also, I noticed Finn and Dirk are Asian. May I ask what cultural background they are from? (i.e. Chinese, Japanese, Koran, etc.) Originally the Gadgetinis were only meant to be a little crack of IG trivia in the second story. When John is attempting to locate Quimby at Dragon Con. and failing to do so. The two people cosplaying as robots which even got mild description. I didn't want them as robots for real when making that crack in the Rogue and the Jackal. When I started to really sit down to develop this current story I decided to bring back the Gadgetinis, but I had to bare in mind what I'd already written. Now given in the canon content Gadget always treats them like they're in training beneath him, I figured why not have it they're a pair of kids? If they hunkered down to a degree they could appear squat in their costumes. Culturally they're Vietnamese-American. The idea to do that with them was something which you'll notice through out the series, is I want to create racial diversity among the characters. Why Vietnamese-American is the result of two different ideas meshing together to plant the idea in my head. Years ago I sprained my left achilles and in a couple chats with my physical therapist she talked about where she was from, Vietnam. She came over here roughly 20 years ago and stated she did so because to put it short the country was in an awful state when she left it. I figured in coming up with Dirk & Finn's parents backgrounds why not have it they came to the US. for a better life like my physical therapist had? But unlike her and going to the realm of pure fiction, what if after they came to the United States they decided to work for HAPPY to try and make the world a better place. The Vietnamese idea also came way of regularly going to a food store chain here in Houston named Hong Kong Market which has a lot of foods from that country and most of it's staff are from there too. The last name used on them is authentic. I pulled it from a website that listed common last names used over there. Also they aren't the first to have this done for the name sounding culturally right. The wronged museum owner from the third story, Mr. Tatanaki. His name was pulled from a list of famous people noted with Libya. Sorry for going on over Dirk & Finn. I have a lot written out over those two. By the way either tonight or tomorrow you can expect to see page 42 posted.

I have to laugh that you chose Vietnamese, because I have a Vietnamese American character too! That would be Rheeci Tran. She's one of Penny's friend, an animal lover and conspiracy theorist. We meet her for the first time in the early chapters of ReInitiated. Different last name, but I also pulled it off a list of common Vietnamese names.

(Page 42) Alan, it's not a good idea to annoy your boss right after you saw your partner get chewed out. Scratch that. It's never really a good idea to annoy your boss. Good job! I'm really looking foreword to the next part.

Thanks for the comments guys! Yeah, Alan and Quimby tend not to be on the same page as one another. But this chat is going to clear up the afterwards shown by Alan in with his state of resting ( sleeping ) when we first saw him in present day in the series. Plus ..oh.. nuts I want to write a spoiler again. ...*sigh* That's what happens when the story is written so far in advance of what is shown currently online.

There's a lot I want to talk about, but can't mention yet because it would be spoilers.

Unidentified...flying...machine? Ugh, I'm no good at guessing. Nice page by the way. So Alan's little excursions are known, huh? Looking forwards to find out where this goes.
