I just want to show I have been working on Hue Shift. If you've read my latest journal entry on DA, you know I've been very sick lately ( add in my medicine keeping zonking me out ). I've also been juggling this with working on Devil's Blood and working on the Georgie. Some notes here to the page. It has one extra panel I got forced to introduce and those two panels fully rendered did have more to their scene.

It's taken me so long just to do what I consider the "rough" line art. I feel the need to show here I haven't been lazy the last few days. What you're seeing here besides most of each panel's art. Is a rough panel design layout and pixelated to being unreadable, character speech.

Looks great!....And yes...I've been reading it!

I thought you didn't like what I do ? .. Are you reading this since it's so disconnected to the rest of the AU, due to time period ? Her hair, yeah I made a comment about it with the artist notes to page 1. Little odd I don't do that with John or Jake. Guess I just wanted to keep it going from that first official concept art. To put it short, she's in a funk when he is talking to her. Her being any lighter in mood doesn't happen for a while for understandable reasoning beyond what you'll read on this page.

(just like the last strip) did you give her/him a name yet? ^_^

The historical research. I even looked up what were common names for cats in the 19th century. Later on his name is revealed to be Theodosia. The kitty isn't like Brain. The fuzzball isn't supersmart. Doesn't have extra abilities like G9 in robot form. No, common cat here. But his presence later drives home where Jocelyn is mentally, when she is having one way conversations towards the animal. Also the cat in his own way does his part with the Wambinis attack, in dealing with things.

I've read your first story, Inspector Gadget: The Nature of Change & Destruction. But none of thee others yet. Or the web comics. Life keeps getting in the way, each time I start. So it's not you! Please don't think that! I'm just so behind with a lot of things, reading is just one of them. As for me starting to read this, the whole 'steam punk' just really caught my interest. And yes I do like the time period as well. I'm wondering, should I just start with the web comics first? Cause this one is a prequel of sorts? I just want to read it from the beginning, that way I'm not confused of what's going on. What do you suggest Cat?

I just want to read it from the beginning, that way I'm not confused of what's going on. What do you suggest Cat? This AU just dashes back & forth between prose format and comic, and heck once animatic. Starting with the comics isn't a good idea. But some comics can be read without having to think of later connecting content. That first set of comic stories which came out before Iron and Steel. IG - Flashback Comic, which in truth is named "Open House". That short is set in '99, so 16 years before The Nature of Change and Destruction. It says a little about John's personality. Where he and his sister grew up. That same house is later used in Iron and Steel during a flashback. How he and Skye got along. Penny is shown as a baby, and John is about to move to Metro City for his job promotion to inspector. IG - Penny's Comic, which in truth is named "A New Dawn". Is set in '14 not long after Skye's passing, when she gets forced to move to live with John. Her dealing with the afterwards and beginning to move on. John dealing with this too, of her moving in, that and lightly Brain moving in. Penny of course the larger focus of the two. It's also the only place so far Kayla & Fletcher appear in comic so far. The story also nods to Terry & Louis's story. IG - Louis 'n Terry's Comic, which in truth is named "New Pack". That short is set in '04. It's how those two met, became friends, and the first note of their plans to join MAD later on. The Nature of Change and Destruction (1) The Rogue and The Jackal (2) And the Forge of Hate (3) They come before Iron and Steel. And the Forge of Hate, reading Penny's short actually clears up where Kayla & Fletcher come from. That story showed the start of them being friends, where as And the Forge of Hate, it's well established they're friends. All of the Gadget Boy prose based stories are set before The Nature of Change and Destruction. From Darkness to Silver Light is in early November '89. The B-Side Tracks is a few weeks later in December '89. Accepting and Escaping Tomorrow is in October '90. Sharpened Claws ( Doctor Claw & Mad Cat's story ) is set a few weeks after the prologue to And the Forge of Hate. Late spring '91. The Twin Strikes Back ( Fidget & Digit a.k.a. here Finn & Dirk ), theirs' is set in '08. With A Little Extra Knowledge ... ( Doctor Hunter ), his is set mainly in '67 to then the dawn of the 80's. Tidal Shifts ( Gadget Boy or here Jake and Heather ), is set in '96. Underground Moving Forward ( Alan ), his is set in '04. This story isn't a prologue. Actually for quite a while I wanted it to tie to present times but couldn't think of how to make that work. So this story just stands by its self pretty much. All you'd ever get of it future-tense a.k.a. the present is two things. Zack is returning in Loaded Stone and it's been established he has taken Finn under his wing in training him to be a detective. So yeah, at some point it's likely going to come up he in the past has butted heads with VILE agents. The second note to what this story does in connecting to the present. That is such an in the background detail, people likely will easily miss it happening. I will say concept work happened which I could not submit to the IG groups. That concept work shows a basis for how certain some ones should look.

This helps greatly, thank you for taking the time out to explain it to me more thoroughly. That way I don't jump around in the wrong ones first!

I think your doing amazing work. Thank you , I wish that was shared sentiment. I honestly keep expecting for lack of acknowledgement, this work is going to show up in the bad webcomics wiki site or another site which has a list bad mouthing some comics. ... Except for enjoying it has a few readers and relishing developing it further. I'm in an emotional dumpster in how I feel others look at this work .

Thank you . --- I jumped the gun on this. I made reference art for page 15 when I'm about to start on page 14. It's very rare I create 3D barebones room models to act as reference to 2D settings. .. I think the last time this was done was the gas station in Iron and Steel. The inside of the airplane doesn't count since I was creating the passenger cabin strictly through Clip Studio in seat positioning.
